Diagnostic workflow

ABB ACS510 / ACS550 Fault Log Evidence Workflow

Entry symptom: A user wants to clear a stored ABB drive fault or request help without losing the event trail.

Safety controls before proceeding
  • Fault reset is not proof of repair.
  • Do not clear active protection before the cause is understood.
  • Unexpected restart risks must be controlled.

Investigation sequence

1

Photograph panel state

Capture the current display, fault code, operating mode and visible status before pressing reset.

2

Record operating condition

Note whether the trip occurred at power-up, start, acceleration, deceleration, stop or high cabinet temperature.

3

Check control source

Document local/remote status, terminal start wiring, speed reference and direction command source.

4

Clear only after evidence capture

Reset under site procedure only after the hazard boundary is understood.

5

Submit structured request

Send nameplate, fault log, wiring photos and maintenance history so the record can be routed to a specific fault page.

Stop conditions

  • Fault code not recorded
  • Drive may restart unexpectedly
  • Active overcurrent/ground fault remains
  • Machine cannot be made safe
