FEEDBACK / CT: EDS1000-2S0015 Abnormal Current Feedback or Protection Behaviour

The inverter shows current-related abnormal behaviour, protection on attempted operation, or inconsistent evidence even after external motor/cable conditions have been investigated.

Scope of this technical record

Technical route for current-feedback or protection evidence connected to EDS1000-2S0015 DB2.

Safety boundary

This record does not authorize live repair. Isolate input power, verify DC-link discharge and use controlled bench procedures appropriate to hazardous industrial drive electronics.

Why current evidence may be misleading

Current-related behaviour can be produced by a genuine motor/output-stage fault or by a corrupted sensing path. The DB2 record provides a useful split: two A7840 isolation amplifier channels with local 78L05 support and LF353 conditioning are present in the feedback path, associated with CT1 / CT2 interface signals.

Because feedback participates in protection decisions, an unpowered or unequal channel can create protection behaviour that resembles a power-stage condition. The inverse is also true: a real output short must not be dismissed as a “feedback problem” merely because the current-reporting path exists.

Channel symmetry and supply dependency

The strongest non-destructive evidence is comparison. Two feedback branches on the same mapped sheet allow a qualified repairer to look for differing component condition, supply availability or connector integrity before replacing control or power hardware. The local 5 V support to isolation devices is especially important: a conditioning signal is not meaningful if its isolation channel is unpowered or unstable.

Timing narrows the branch. Protection before a run command, immediately after command acceptance or only as load develops describes different investigation routes. A structured inquiry should include timing rather than only the word “overcurrent.”

What this page does not permit

This record does not recommend defeating protection, forcing output or ignoring a confirmed semiconductor short. It exists to prevent indiscriminate board substitution and to make the feedback circuit searchable for technicians who already have a controlled test process.
