Scope of this technical record
Use this path to prove or exclude motor cable, motor terminal, output contactor and output accessory causes before an ACS800 2340 case is treated as internal power-stage failure.
Motor and cable checks must be made with the drive safely isolated and disconnected according to qualified procedures. Do not insulation-test through the drive output electronics.
ACS800 motor-cable output route
The external output path must be cleared before a 2340 case becomes an internal module decision.
External output faults can destroy internal hardware
An ACS800 may report 2340 because the inverter has detected a real short downstream of the drive. That downstream problem can also destroy IGBT modules or driver hardware if a repaired drive is returned to service without proof.
The external output path includes output terminals, output contactor, motor cable, shield/grounding condition, terminal box, motor winding, output filters and any surge or capacitor device on the motor side. Each item should be documented before a board request is made.
External output evidence
| Observation | Likely route | Service decision |
|---|---|---|
| Trip only when cable connected | Motor/cable/accessory | Clear external fault before drive repair |
| Wet terminal box or damaged shield | Ground or phase leakage route | Repair field condition first |
| Output contactor arcing | Intermittent output short | Correct accessory before module test |
| No external proof | Unknown | Do not approve power-stage return |
When the drive-side path becomes credible
The drive-side output stage becomes credible only after the external path is documented or safely absent. If 2340 remains with the output path removed under a qualified procedure, then phase-leg, AGDR, current-feedback and inverter-module evidence become the next route.
The final record should state whether the field condition has been corrected. Otherwise the repaired drive may be returned to the same destructive condition.

Technical basis and reference documents
This is an independent editorial technical reference. Original manufacturer documentation remains controlling for installation, repair and commissioning decisions.
OEM basis for ACS800 SHORT CIRC 2340, PPCC LINK 5210, FAULTED INT INFO and INT SC INFO context.
OEM basis for hazardous-drive safety, cabinet structure, power-module and control/interface hardware context.
Public field discussion showing why 2340 cases can involve AGDR/module evidence, vibration, dust and repeat-failure conditions.
Turn this record into a qualified service request
A repair decision is much more reliable when the request includes the exact identity of the drive, the first fault evidence and the machine condition when the symptom appeared.
- Complete drive type code / MLFB or nameplate model
- Fault code, fault value and first event before reset
- When the event appears: power-up, enable, ramp, run, decel or stop
- Motor/cable connected or isolated during the symptom
- Visible board, option-card, module and connector identifiers
- Previous repair history, replacement parts and repeat-failure pattern
