Functional board area

Generic VFD Gate-Driver Board Area

Transfers PWM command to isolated IGBT/IPM gate signals while providing protection feedback for output-stage faults.

Board-area evidence record8 min read

Scope of this technical record

Functional gate-driver board area used in overcurrent, short-circuit, output phase-loss and repeat-module-failure cases.

Safety boundary

Do not power a repaired output module until gate-driver evidence is reviewed under qualified repair procedure.

The image explains why every channel matters after an IGBT/IPM failure.

Why the gate-driver area must be documented

When a module fails, driver damage can remain hidden. The repair request should show all six channels or the full driver area, not only the obviously burned phase, because comparison across channels is often the easiest way to see abnormal parts.

Gate-driver evidence table

The table defines the photos and measurements a repair shop needs before another module is trusted.

Evidence intake

Turn this record into a qualified service request

A repair decision is much more reliable when the request includes the exact identity of the drive, the first fault evidence and the machine condition when the symptom appeared.

  • Complete drive type code / MLFB or nameplate model
  • Fault code, fault value and first event before reset
  • When the event appears: power-up, enable, ramp, run, decel or stop
  • Motor/cable connected or isolated during the symptom
  • Visible board, option-card, module and connector identifiers
  • Previous repair history, replacement parts and repeat-failure pattern
